During the investigation, it was determined Corrigan had destroyed the interior and exterior of the house by hand painting graffiti on the walls and dumping paint throughout the house. According to deputies, she set fire to the inside of the house in three locations and left her eight dogs inside.

Due to the intensity of the fire, firefighters called a second alarm and began attacking the flames from above. Nevertheless, they were able to rescue the dogs, but one was critically burned.
