A group showed up at Mondayās Charlotte County Planning and Zoning Board meeting, only to learn the resort wasnāt on the agenda yet, and theyāre vowing to return when the land-use changes are finally heard.

ā¢ Fueling Local Good: Local Nonprofits Receive Funding Boost from Charlotte Community Foundation (englewoodreview.com) ā Englewood residents helped decide how $172,500 in new Charlotte Community Foundation grants were awarded, and Englewood Meals on Wheels is among the local nonprofits recognized. A 24-member committee from communities including Englewood reviewed 66 applications before selecting 35 grantees. The foundation says its simpler, more transparent process and growing endowed funds aim to strengthen services countywide for years to come. Ā Ā Ā
ā¢ No Solicit-Gators: Local Reptiles Take Door-to-Door Soliciting Literally (englewoodreview.com) ā Recent gator encounters around Florida are getting uncomfortably close to Englewood, and wildlife officials warn that mating season makes alligators more active and aggressive. With nuisance gators defined as four feet or longer and threatening, residents are urged to watch kids and pets, check porches and doors before opening, and stay alert near water through the long AprilāSeptember breeding season.
