• Southern Fla. wildfires burn thousands of acres, close roads and attractions (firerescue1.com) — A wildfire burning in and around Florida City has reduced visibility, diverted U.S. 1 traffic onto Krome Avenue, and showered ash on nearby RV residents while firefighters work to keep flames away from homes. The blaze, part of a wider South Florida fire outbreak, briefly closed Card Sound Road and continues to challenge crews amid dry, windy conditions. 
• South Florida wildfires latest in active fire season (axios.com) — A wildfire dubbed the 172 Avenue Fire is burning about 300 acres near Florida City and was only half contained as of Tuesday, adding smoke and concern to an already dry season. Along with a much larger Everglades blaze near Pembroke Pines, it’s part of a statewide spike in wildfires driven by drought, water restrictions, and burn bans.
