Family of 8 displaced after fire ignites in Fort Lauderdale home (wsvn.com) — A Fort Lauderdale family of eight is homeless after a Sunday night house fire on Northwest 15th Street, though everyone escaped safely. Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue knocked down the blaze within about 20 minutes, but the home was left unlivable. The family has launched an online fundraiser as investigators work to determine what sparked the fire.
   

2. Fort Lauderdale commissioners adopt $1.28 billion budget, keep same millage rate for 19th year (local10.com) — Fort Lauderdale commissioners have approved a $1.28 billion city budget while keeping the property tax millage rate unchanged for the 19th straight year, affecting what homeowners will pay in 2027. The plan includes about $12 million in cuts and funds a new fire station in Flagler Village, supported by a $444 per-dwelling fire assessment fee.
   

3. Senior Dog Returns to the Same Shelter Years After Adoption and No One Comes Back for Him (greatergood.com) — A senior dog named Baby is back at the Humane Society of Broward County in Fort Lauderdale after being found as a stray years after his original adoption, and no one has reclaimed him. Staff at the Griffin Road shelter say he's gentle, housebroken, great on a leash, and still loves people, and they're urging potential adopters to complete a quick online application and come meet him for a true forever home.
   

4. Fully redone $13.5M Fort Lauderdale home has 105 feet of waterfront (fancypantshomes.com) — A fully remodeled Bay Colony waterfront estate in Fort Lauderdale is listed for $13.5 million, offering 105 feet of ocean-access frontage with no fixed bridges and an updated seawall and dock. The turnkey six-bedroom home features luxury finishes, a theater, club room, smart-home tech, and a four-car garage near Coral Ridge Country Club, Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport, the beach, and Pine Crest School.
   

5. Construction begins on Royal Caribbean's next massive Icon-class ship (sun-sentinel.com) — Royal Caribbean has begun construction in Finland on its fifth massive Icon-class cruise ship, slated to debut in 2028 alongside several sister vessels already sailing or on order. For Fort Lauderdale travelers, the key news is that Legend of the Seas, the third Icon-class ship, will begin winter sailings from the city starting this November after a Mediterranean season.
