The summit opens National Hereditary Cancer Week, September 27 through October 3, which includes National Previvor Day on September 30. Admission is $150 and educational seating is limited to 100 attendees, with financial assistance available for qualifying attendees.

<a href="https://www.galleriamall-fl.com/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Galleria Fort Lauderdale</a> presents The Poppy Project Pop-Up Living Garden in support of<a href="https://www.hendersonbh.org/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Henderson Behavioral Health</a> (HBH) in collaboration with the USS Fort Lauderdale (LPD28) Support Committee. This public art initiative is designed to honor veterans while raising awareness and funds for critical mental health services. Shoppers can take colorful photos and selfies to share online and connect with and donate to HBH’s virtual Legacy Wall which encourages friends and families to honor loved ones who have served or are currently serving our country. The cherished photo opportunity with the larger-than-life artistic poppy flowers will run through November 10 at Galleria Fort Lauderdale (2414 East Sunrise Blvd.). 
Designed by South Florida based Ingham Landscaping and presented by Galleria Fort Lauderdale, the two-month living garden will be a colorful and lively setting featuring the five-and 6-foot striking handcrafted fiberglass poppy flowers which are a remembrance of those who protect and serve our country. The inside mall garden will include a variety of tropical ornamental plants and shrubs that will complement the artistic poppy works of art.
 Adding to the installation, will be “Soldier Stories,” an exclusive exhibition by award-winning artist Marilyn Johansen honoring veterans and the military. Visitors will also be encouraged to select free postcards and add a personal message to current servicemen and women. This special moment is arranged by the USS Fort Lauderdale (LPD28) Support Committee. Special retail offers will coincide with this community project.
Inspired by the poppy’s historical significance as a symbol of sacrifice, rooted in the World War I poem “In Flanders Fields,” and later adopted as a national emblem of remembrance, HBH’s The Poppy Project brings this tradition to life in a local and meaningful way. 
The effort is sponsored by key community partners and supporters including The Leo Goodwin Foundation, Arlene Pecora, the Henderson Behavioral Health Board of Directors, Florida Power &amp; Light Company (FPL), USS Fort Lauderdale (LPD28) Support Committee, Community Foundation of Broward, Disabled American Veterans-Gold Coast Chapter 133, Riverwalk Fort Lauderdale and Galleria Fort Lauderdale.

<a href="https://historyfortlauderdale.org/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">History Fort Lauderdale</a>, committed to preserving our collective heritage, promoting historical literacy, and fostering a sense of pride and stewardship for the vibrant tapestry of our region’s history, will present its Hispanic Heritage Month fifth anniversary exhibit, “Viva Fort Lauderdale: Celebrating Hispanic Art &amp; Culture.” The free fine art exhibit, running from Thursday, September 17, through Sunday, October 25, will feature work from local award-winning artists-in-residence including Florencia Clement de Grandprey (Spain), Isabel Perez Salazar (Venezuela), and Lifrancis Rojas (Venezuela). New this year will be sculptures from Norman Silva (Nicaragua). The exhibit will be available to view at History Fort Lauderdale’s New River Inn (231 Southwest Second Avenue).
History Fort Lauderdale’s “Viva Fort Lauderdale” is sponsored by the following funds at the Community Foundation of Broward: Jan and Ed Crocker Unrestricted Fund, Leo M. and Alice J. It seeks to bring awareness to the community through both traveling exhibits and multiple permanent exhibits including “Women Trailblazers,” “Fort Lauderdale – the Early Years,” “Roots of Resilience: The Journey of Black Broward,” “Fashion &amp; Musical Theatre,” “From Dugouts to Dream Yachts: the story of boatbuilding along the New River,” Seminole Arts &amp; Culture,” “New River Archaeology,” and “Take PRIDE, a retrospective on LGBTQ life in South Florida.” 
History Fort Lauderdale is open seven days a week from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. with docent guided tours, daily, at 1, 2 and 3 p.m. Group walking tours are available upon special request. Admission is $15 for adults; $12 for seniors and $7 for students (through age 22 with a valid student ID). Admission is free for members, military and children ages six and under. The annual event will take place on Friday, Sept 25, from 5 to 8 p.m., with the picturesque New River creating the perfect backdrop.The community is invited to celebrate the founding families of Fort Lauderdale with festive fall fun. Guests will enjoy food trucks, beer and wine vendors, games, live music, and more for all ages. The Water Taxi will be providing complimentary rides. A special ceremony to honor the founding families will take place at 6:15 p.m.



All proceeds will support the year-round historic preservation and education programs at the Historic Stranahan House Museum, one of the top cultural attractions in Fort Lauderdale. The Historic Stranahan House Museum is the oldest house in Fort Lauderdale and the epicenter of Broward County’s long and fascinating history. Built in 1901, Stranahan House is recognized as the birthplace of Fort Lauderdale and was home to the area’s first businessman, Frank Stranahan, and the first schoolteacher, Ivy Cromartie Stranahan. Stranahan House opened as a museum in 1984.

Community-Based Connections, Inc. (CBCI), a nonprofit organization dedicated to delivering youth development, family strengthening, and community empowerment services to underserved populations, invites couples to reconnect, rekindle, and grow during its FREE Stronger Together Couples Conference on Saturday, September 26, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at New Mount Olive Baptist Church (400 NW 9th Avenue in Fort Lauderdale). Married, dating or co-parenting couples will get the tools they need to help strengthen relationships, improve communication, rebuild trust, and support healthier families from award-winning speakers and counselors.
The thought-provoking event with host Mikelange Olbel, president/CEO of Community-Based Connections, Inc, will include interactive panel discussions and a complimentary breakfast. 
Rev. Dr. Marcus D. Davidson, senior pastor of New Mount Olive Baptist Church and an adjunct professor and preaching fellow for the Voice for Change Preaching Initiative at Palm Beach Atlantic University &amp; Lady Yvokia Davidson, director of outreach and missions at New Mount Olive Baptist Church will lead the “Reconnect &amp; Rekindle” interactive session designed to help participants reconnect, strengthen communication, renew affection, and identify a meaningful next step for their relationship or family.
Inspirational speakers Apostle Ron Harper &amp; Lady Stephanie Harper, leaders and founders of I Am Kingdom Ministries, Michael Drummond, founder &amp; CEO, Technicom Sales and Services, Inc. and Technicom Media Group, Inc., U.S. Army Veteran &amp; Arlene Connelly Drummond,founder &amp; CEO, ISEE Group, LLC, executive strategist &amp; certified coach, and Dr. Linda Parker, president and CEO of Women in Distress &amp; Antoine Parkerwill lead the “Living United” panel. Attendees will learn from them sharing practical insights on remaining unified through conflict, cultural pressures, social media, parenting demands, and other challenges that can affect family stability. The session will be moderated by Latoya Gonzalez, senior underwriter at Amerant Bank.
Dr. Aaron J. McLeod, Esq., founder McLeod Legal Advisors, Difference Makers Asset Protection, LLC, The Legacy Coaching Institute, NPF, and Samaritans For The Common Good, NFP plus pastor of Lula B. Sherman United Methodist Church in Evanston, Illinois, Dr. Kimm R. Campbell, LCSW, and Venita Fields, partner with Pelham S2K Managers, LLC will address “The Resilient Couple Blueprint” – a discussion on navigating adversity and change while balancing marriage, careers, and entrepreneurship; supporting one another's goals; managing competing responsibilities; celebrating shared success; and protecting their connection at home. The session will be moderated by Olbel. 
All families in Broward and Palm Beach counties are eligible, including single parents (fathers and mothers), co-parenting partners, married or unmarried couples, expectant parents, and adults seeking to strengthen relationships, communication, or family dynamics. There are no income restrictions, and participants may self-refer or be referred by partner agencies.
