Town Tries To End Decade Long Dispute - Beach Talk Radio News (beachtalkradionews.com) — A long-running code-enforcement battle over 80 Avenue E in Fort Myers Beach may finally be nearing resolution, with a proposed settlement cutting a lien that once approached $1.2 million. Property owner Jesse Schmid argues a prior $50,000 payment should have cleared things, but the town disagreed and later filed foreclosure before Hurricane Ian demolished the unsafe structure. The new deal would have White Sand pay $150,000 by February 2027 to wipe out remaining fines and litigation.

ROAR Offshore celebrates America's 250th Anniversary with 'Reborn on the Gulf' Weekend (floridaweekly.com) — Fort Myers Beach will host the ROAR Offshore powerboat races September 11–13, bringing three days of high-speed action, live entertainment, and big crowds back to the island. Organizers say the event honors the town’s post‑Ian rebirth and America’s 250th anniversary while pumping valuable tourism dollars into local hotels, restaurants, and shops. Residents can expect national attention, volunteer opportunities, and plenty of waterfront viewing options.
4. 'Cars on 5th' finds new home after city permit denial (news-press.com) — Fort Myers Beach may soon host a new “Cars off Fifth” show, a smaller, funkier spin-off of Naples’ long-running Cars on 5th, with town officials saying talks are going well. The main 2027 event is moving to Bayshore Drive in East Naples after Naples denied its permit, but organizers still want a Fort Myers Beach version, likely in December. Final details and dates for the beach event haven’t been confirmed yet.
5. 5 things to know about Sanibel author's suit over Doc Ford brand (news-press.com) — Fort Myers Beach diners will recognize Doc Ford’s and the former Bonita Bill’s at the center of a high-stakes trademark and royalty fight between author Randy Wayne White and HM Restaurant Group. The suit, filed in Lee County, claims the company pushed to slash his royalties and used the Doc Ford name on products like hot sauce without permission. A hearing is set this month, but a new trial date hasn’t been scheduled yet.
