14 days per year for visitors by order of landlords is cruel and mean.
People ought to be allowed to have family and friends stay at their residence when they are in town, and just 14 days a year is not enough.
It's a cruel rule that promotes isolation and makes like it's illegal to have friends. You live in an apartment or condo. The landlord tells you that you as a tenant are forbidden to have your unit occupied by another person for more than 14 days within a 365 day period, and once the 14 day limit is reached, you can no longer have any more visitors for one year, otherwise you get evicted. Landlords, that kind of rule is the surest way to make your tenants feel like they're in a prison. And it's also a good way to lose future tenants and end up with entire apartment buildings even ending up vacant for years, especially in Florida and really anywhere within the Sun Belt area.
Those kinds of rules are cruel. They are designed even to break up entire families and friendships, and such rules make you feel like you're in a prison. Such rules in fact belong in DuPage County, Illinois, where not only is the entire community like that, but tenants there are lucky to have a guest at their place every 30 years due to the heavily workaholic lifestyle of all of Northern Illinois and the complete lack of a social atmosphere in Chicago's entire collar county area. And nobody ever has overnight guests in DuPage County, Illinois or anywhere within Chicago's collar county area.
Hotels today are expensive. 14 days a year per tenant to have someone vacation at their residence is not enough for the vast majority of people.

Even Southwest Florida GWI Housing Inc now has that asinine rule in their books, and they have recently abolished their written consent of management exception.
In 2016, Southwest Florida GWI Housing's visitor policy was; "Residents are permitted to have guests visit his/her residence. However, a person making reoccuring visits or one continuous visit of more than 14 days in a row without the written consent of management will be counted as a household member."

In 2022, Southwest Florida GWI housing's visitor policy is; "No resident is allowed to have visitors for more than 14 days within a 365 day period. Any resident found to have had visitors more than 14 days within a 365 day period will receive infractions. There will be no more written consent from management and no more exceptions." In other words, having someone stay in the apartment for 10 days, and then even 8 months later having someone else stay for 7 days, will no longer work out anymore as the new landlord there says to the visitor; "No, you can not stay with that tenant because they used up their 14 days! No exceptions!"
I personally think that a more appropriate limit on visitors in the latter case would be 150 days within a 365 day period per tenant, and in the case of each individual visit, 21 days in a row maximum per 2 months per individual visitor.
