Up to 3 hour waits are common at restaurants during snowbird season.

It's the time of year that most people that often eat out don't like. Snowbird season every year sees Southwest Florida become tremendously crowded with senior citizens and retired people from up north. And with that, restaurants and bars get so overcrowded that, not only is there no chance of ever taking a picture or two with your favorite waitress or your favorite bartender (and you have to wait until at least May to do so), but there is often a very long waiting period, sometimes up to 3 hours, before a table or even a seat at the bar becomes available. And waiting times of up to 3 hours for a table or seat at the bar are very common at many bars and restaurants during snowbird season. A lot of bars and restaurants often even get sold out on certain foods during snowbird season.
