Bonita Springs Resident Unwraps Her 102nd Birthday Celebration

Dorothy Newberry has always loved Christmas. For the past 102 years, she’s been getting a little something extra from Santa for being born on Christmas Eve. This year, this centenarian will celebrate her birthday with dozens of her closest neighbors and family members during a special celebration just for her.

On Thursday, December 23, at 1 p.m., The Terraces at Bonita Springs senior living community will host Dorothy’s 102nd birthday party. Dorothy, who’s called the community home for seven years, is well-known around The Terraces. Nearly every day, you can find her out for a walk around the community or attending one of the multiple events and activities scheduled.

Dorothy spent much of her life traveling the world with her husband. She visited 60 different countries before settling down in the Sunshine State. So, what’s her advice for a wonderful life? She says it’s important to eat well, exercise and hope for good genes.
