SWFL Hooters Employees Deliver More Books and Activities in April to Support Cancer Patients

Several employees from the Naples and Fort Myers Hooters locations delivered books to both the Lee Regional Cancer Center in Fort Myers and the Cancer Clinic in Bonita Springs. The Lending Library initiative is a year-round program the SWFL Hooters restaurants created and participate in to support those facing breast and other types of cancer. The program aims to support and comfort patients as they go through treatment. Every month, several employees from Hooters deliver an assortment of additional books for patients to read, word searches, coloring books, writing utensils and bookmarks.

On April 6, Kelly Deihl and Taylor Zalich who both work at Naples Hooters visited the Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation Cancer Clinic at the Bonita Health Center. During their visit, Kelly and Taylor took the time to review the Lending Library book cart and thoughtfully restock any missing spots, ensuring the cart was fully refreshed and available for patients and their families.

On April 13, Hooters continued its commitment to community and literacy with a visit to the Lee Health Regional Cancer Center. Heidi Perez and Paige Roberts who works at Fort Myers Hooters and Taylor Zalich took part in the visit. They delivered an assortment of brand-new books and activity books for patients and families for the lending library carts on the second and fourth floors. Plus made sure to include bookmarks and writing utensils for patients and their families to have activity options during their time at the hospital.

Both visits focused on providing uplifting reading materials and interactive activities designed to support patients of all ages. “We want our Lending Library to provide a welcoming, comforting and supportive environment for the patients and their families during their treatments,” said Hooters of South Florida Director of Marketing Kristi Quarles.

The Lending Library program is part of South Florida’s Hooters’ ongoing commitment to give back to the community.
