Illinois man gets 75 years in prison for hugging waitress.

Chicago, Il; Many people may consider hugging their favorite waitress or bartender a harmless act, but in Illinois, that exact act has just gotten a man and also a waitress sentenced to seventy-five (75) years in prison for first-degree public display of affection at a place of business.

The man, having reportedly recently relocated to the Chicago area from Texas, reportedly hugged a waitress goodbye after having dinner at a restaurant in Downtown Chicago in May 2021. The incident was caught on surveillance which was monitored by the Chicago Police Department whom immediately tracked down and arrested the man and the waitress.

The man testified during his trial at the Cook County Courthouse claiming he didn't know that what he did was illegal. The judge, however, was not moved and sentenced the man and the waitress to seventy-five (75) years in prison. The man is scheduled to begin serving his sentence Monday, July 26th at Stateville Correctional Center and will be eligible for parole on August 15th, 2071.
