Pedestrian killed Friday night in North Fort Myers car crash (naplesnews.com) — A 59-year-old Fort Myers man died Friday night after being struck while crossing U.S. 41 on foot in North Fort Myers, according to state troopers. The driver, a 17-year-old from Cape Coral, was uninjured as investigators continue reviewing the crash, which adds to at least 34 traffic fatalities on Lee County roads so far this year.

Leaving a legacy at Lee Health (floridaweekly.com) — Longtime Fort Myers physician and Lee Health CEO Dr. Larry Antonucci is preparing to retire Sept. 30 after decades shaping local hospitals and services, from Gulf Coast Medical Center's expansion to Golisano Children's Hospital. Bash on the Bay brings new Labor Day tradition to Fort Myers Beach (winknews.com) — A new three-day Bash on the Bay festival is bringing live music, food, drinks, and big crowds to Matanzas on the Bay on Fort Myers Beach through Labor Day Monday. Organizers and business owners say the event is helping draw visitors back as the island continues recovering from past storms, and it kicks off a busy September of races and concerts across the beach.
