Southwest Florida GWI Housing Inc bans all overnight visits.

Tenants who rent from Southwest Florida Goodwill Housing Inc (abbreviated "Southwest Florida GWI Housing, Inc") who used to be allowed to have overnight visitors and only had to contact the (previous) Occupancy manager for approval if a guest was staying longer than 14 days in a row at their apartment are finding out they can no longer do that anymore per the new rules of the new Occupancy manager (what's her name, I hear it's like Melinda or something similar). And unlike the previous occupancy managers, this particular occupancy manager does not, and will never, give any kind of consent, verbal or written, for any visitor to spend even a single night at a tenant's apartment, and has vowed that she will not have any tenants having overnight visitors for as long as she is the occupancy manager.

Unfortunately, that is correct, in fact, the new Occupancy manager, who has been in that position since around mid 2022 has officially banned all overnight stays. Tenants are no longer allowed ANY overnight stays by guests at all anymore.

Like this new rule, many of her other new rules also grossly override and veto the entire House Rules packet as written by the Columbia Property Group, Inc (the company that owns and operates Southwest Florida GWI Housing and a number of other housing organizations). This new Occupancy manager is a "You have seen it written like that in the House Rules packet. But I tell you this" type of person. Complaints have been reported by numerous tenants about the way this new Occupancy Manager is operating the organization, which in fact is about even tantamount to mutiny. What she has done is taken the rules as written by the Columbia Property Group, expanded them tremendously, and made prison-like restrictions out of them. What this Melinda, or whoever she is, has done is gone grossly overboard with the rules.

I think this new Occupancy manager needs to go operate apartment properties in DuPage County, Illinois. She needs to go operate her business in Glen Ellyn, Naperville even.

Now DuPage County, Illinois is a very disconnected community. Nobody ever stays overnight at anyone else's residence at all in DuPage County, Illinois. There is no making friends or socializing either in DuPage County; all interactions there are strictly for business only. And by the way, even gardening is almost unheard of in DuPage County, Illinois due to the harsh, cold climate there, plus the intensely workaholic lifestyle of DuPage County residents.

Hotels today are expensive and unaffordable. The era where you could get a room at the local Howard Johnson for $40 a night is long gone.

Prisons prohibit visitors. Inmates especially in solitary confinement or serving multiple life sentences at supermax facilities are forbidden to have visitors. Inmates at mental institutions are forbidden to have visitors. All landlords, to forbid your tenants from having visitors is to treat them like they're in a prison.
