Wisconsin; America's most obese state?

Obesity extremely widespread in America's Dairyland.

Wisconsin has an unhealthy culture. Not only cheese, but a lot of heavy deep fried foods cooked in lard and oils that are extremely high in unhealthy fat and cholesterol. Wisconsinians also consume heavy amounts of candy and sugar, which is actually worse than the deep fried foods in terms of causing unhealthy weight gain.

Complicating it farther, Wisconsin's winters are long, cold, and brutal, far too cold for outdoor physical activity such as bicycle riding, walking, and jogging. Bicycling season in fact lasts between 2 and 5 months depending on what part of Wisconsin you're in and the weather patterns for the year. Bicycle trails are extremely few and far in between, and Wisconsin roads in general, especially rural ones without sidewalks, are not built for bicycles; they have no paved shoulders and are built exclusively for motor vehicles only.

Hence, Wisconsinians get little to virtually no exercise, and as a result of the high fat, cholesterol, and sugar diets plus the lack of exercise opportunities, obesity is extremely widespread in Wisconsin, especially in the north half of Wisconsin near Lake Superior.
