(hometownnewstc.com) — Fort Pierce officials have given the struggling tenant of Crabby's another 30 days to find a new operator for the city-owned waterfront restaurant, keeping hopes alive for a quick reopening. City leaders are weighing whether to recoup about $317,000 in unpaid rent and taxes while a prospective tenant considers renovations and adding a tiki bar that could reshape the popular site's future.
   

2. Man fatally shot in Florida identified by police (coralspringsflnews.com) — Fort Pierce residents are being urged to share any information about a Sept. 3 shooting on North 16th Street that killed 26-year-old local resident Tyrone Williams, now publicly identified by police. Officers found Williams under a carport with multiple gunshot wounds, and witnesses reported several masked men fleeing; investigators recovered cartridge casings and a firearm and are still piecing together what led to the violence.
   

3. Former Fort Pierce officer accused of using Flock cameras to track ex-girlfriend keeps $80,000 bond (wpbf.com) — A former Fort Pierce police officer accused of repeatedly using Flock license-plate cameras and other databases to track his ex-girlfriend will remain jailed on an $80,000 bond after a judge refused to lower it. Prosecutors argued the high bond is warranted because residents must be able to trust how Fort Pierce law enforcement uses powerful surveillance tools.
   

4. Florida's Treasure Coast hides $400M from a 1715 shipwreck fleet (miramarflnews.com) — Fort Pierce is part of Florida's famed Treasure Coast, where a 1715 Spanish fleet sank offshore and left an estimated $400 million in treasure still on the seabed. Locals and visitors can explore that history at nearby museums and by visiting the Melody Lane Fishing Pier in Fort Pierce, where a recovered ship's cannon from just north of town is on permanent display.
   

5. DOJ seeking testimony on Trump investigations (arkansasonline.com) — Federal investigators have set up shop in Fort Pierce as the Justice Department pursues a grand jury investigation into whether intelligence officials conspired against Donald Trump in past Russia-related probes. While the case centers on national politics and former CIA Director John Brennan, the decision to base the team in Fort Pierce, home court of Judge Aileen Cannon, puts the city at the heart of a closely watched legal battle.
