• County, developer try to iron out new purpose for Gulf Gate's golf course (yourobserver.com) — Gulf Gate Estates homeowners are being asked whether they'd support a special tax to help Sarasota County buy and clean up the closed Gulf Gate Golf Course and turn it into a major stormwater park to ease neighborhood flooding. Officials and the property owner are far apart on price, and cleanup plus construction could cost tens of millions, so resident feedback will heavily influence whether redevelopment or a county stormwater project moves forward.
