Gecko Ball 2011: "The Lizard of Oz"

Gulfport’s annual Gecko Ball returns with the light-hearted theme of "The Lizard of Oz." The Gecko Ball is an annual event leading up to the 11th annual Gecko Fest, Gulfport’s largest and most beloved street festival, held this year on Saturday, Sept. 3.

"The Lizard of Oz" is a celebration befitting Gulfport’s
quirky, funky, artistic nature.  Larger-than-life décor evokes the Land of Oz. A full dinner buffet also conjures elements of Oz's scenery and charm.

Drink specials include Geckotinis and Ruby Slippers. Live music by Kevin Wilder and his YellowBrick Roadies will keep party-goers on their feet. Oz-related characters and activities will offer surprises throughout the evening. Back by popular demand, this year’s photo booth offers commemorative photos of party-goers posed in front of Oz backdrops. Silent auctions during the Ball feature gift certificates, artwork and merchandise from local businesses and artists. In addition, seven large steel geckos, each decorated by a local artist, will be the centerpieces of a live auction during the event.
