• Gulfport's First City-Run 5K Unites Community for Operation Santa (thegabber.com) — Gulfport just held its first city-run 5K along the waterfront, raising more than $4,000 for Operation Santa to buy holiday gifts for local children. Residents, businesses, and volunteers rallied through Gulfport Connects and post-race specials, and the City already plans to make the race and family walk an annual downtown tradition.
   

• VIDEO: Man rescues dog swimming for its life in Boca Ciega Bay (wfla.com) — A boater in Gulfport's Boca Ciega Bay woke to his own dog's barking and discovered a poodle struggling in the water, still attached to a leash. He pulled the exhausted pup aboard, posted online, and soon reunited her with her owner, who said she'd escaped from a car near Gibbs High School.
