Ribbon Cutting at Gulfport Chamber of Commerce New Home
Set at The Gateway, the Chamber will be more accessible
The Gulfport Chamber of Commerce has found a new home in Gulfport, right in the heart of Gulfport's business district. Located at 4926 Gulfport Blvd. South, the new offices look across the Boulevard at the newest businesses to open here, the Sav-A-Lot and the Family Dollar.
"We're really excited about moving here," Chamber President Lori Rosso said. "We're right here at the Gateway. This is a great location and to be among the local businesses makes us feel closer to the community as a whole. We're more accessible here."
Rosso said that all of the “Welcome to Gulfport” signs at street corners have been changed from brown and white, to the Chamber's much more inviting Ocean blue and white, tying in the Chamber's logo and it's colors. They will be much easier to see and read, she said.

Although the Chamber offices are only 700 square feet, they have done a nice job of utilizing and organizing the space well. The front entrance is airy and inviting, with Chamber and Gulfport available merchandise on the walls and maps and points of interest information in close reach.
Rosso said the newest innovation from the Chamber is the installation of the Business Resource Center. Working with the City of Gulfport, the Chamber has put together a packet of information, geared towards the new business owner, which contains information about the City, proper forms for permits and where to find them, site plan information, the city layout and more, all in an effort to make the process of starting a business in Gulfport easier and more efficient.

There is also the New Resident's Guide, with information on where to go for a driver’s license, car tags, registering to vote and city and county information that a new resident might need to get settled here. In the near future, the Chamber hopes to have that same information available on the website.
Councilman Sam Henderson was pleased that the new Chamber location was closer to his ward. "It's also right in the middle of the next redevelopment and restoration area for Gulfport. I think that’s great for our community."
Rosso said that the move from the old building in the Bank of America building on 58th propelled them into getting more innovative. "It's bringing us to another level. We want to raise membership and this move has made us raise the bar. We've all embraced it with energy and enthusiasm!"
Congrats on your new home, Gulfport Chamber of Commerce!
