Police say a 74-year-old Miami Gardens woman left the scene after the collision at West 49th Street and 10th Avenue, later telling investigators she fled out of fear. She was arrested and released on bond.

Sweetwater Mayor José 'Pepe' Díaz Endorses Alex Rizo for Open SD 39 Seat (floridianpress.com) — Hialeah residents are part of Florida’s Senate District 39, where Sweetwater Mayor José “Pepe” Díaz has endorsed Rep. Alex Rizo, a Republican from Hialeah, for the open seat. With backing from Díaz and Gov. Ron DeSantis, Rizo is leaving his House seat to run, making this race especially important for how Hialeah’s interests are represented in Tallahassee.

In a new NBC6 survey, most Miami-Dade and Broward teachers report declining student numbers and many say children are scared about deportations, even as districts insist campuses remain safe spaces.

Maria Elvira Salazar’s district, where she’s openly urging President Trump to scale back some immigration enforcement tactics she says have gone too far. Her new TV ad and bipartisan Dignity Act proposal aim to balance tougher border security with a legal status program for undocumented immigrants, a key issue in this heavily Hispanic, immigrant-rich area.
