(palmbeachpost.com) — Highland Beach is highlighted as one of four Palm Beach County towns already using reverse-osmosis plants to treat brackish groundwater, a model West Palm Beach now plans to follow. West Palm is preparing a multi-hundred-million-dollar desalination project tapping the Floridan Aquifer to bolster its vulnerable surface-water supply, potentially signaling how regional water reliability and future costs could evolve for nearby coastal communities.
