4. World's largest houseplant company faces pressure to sign onto worker protections (orlandoweekly.com) — Worker advocates are pressuring Homestead-based Costa Farms, the world’s largest houseplant grower, to adopt a worker-designed Planting Justice code that would strengthen protections against extreme heat, pesticides, and workplace abuses. While the campaign’s latest actions took place in Apopka, organizers say Homestead’s massive nursery industry sits at the center of the fight over safer conditions for Florida’s outdoor workers.
