• Florida beach looking to ban cigarettes, vapes to help environment (newsnationnow.com) — Indian Rocks Beach commissioners are set to vote on banning cigarettes and vapes along the shoreline, with possible fines up to $500 and even jail time for repeat offenders. Residents are divided over including vapes and how harsh penalties should be, and the decision will be made at a 6 p.m. Tuesday meeting at City Hall. 
• Volunteers rescue sea turtles trapped in storm drain near Clearwater (wsvn.com) — In Indian Rocks Beach, volunteers and a deputy helped rescue disoriented sea turtle hatchlings that ended up in a storm drain, likely due to improper beachfront lighting. Mayor-Commissioner Lan Vaughan says the city has already issued 82 lighting code violations and is working with Duke Energy on turtle-safe lighting to better protect future nests along local shorelines.
