⢠Jacksonville Fire and Rescue debuts new rip current simulator that will help train for ocean rescues (actionnewsjax.com) ā Jacksonville Fire and Rescue just added a powerful new rip current simulator, funded by a state grant, to train lifeguards and rescue crews for dangerous water emergencies. Local officials say the Slipstream system will sharpen ocean and pool rescue skills while also helping teach residents how to spot and survive rip currents along Jacksonville's busy beaches.

⢠'It's ridiculous': Jacksonville parents demand action over speeding drivers near Oceanway Middle School (firstcoastnews.com) ā Parents and a volunteer crossing guard in Jacksonville are sounding the alarm about speeding drivers and malfunctioning signals near Oceanway Middle School, where several close calls have put students at risk. The city's Traffic Engineering Division now plans to inspect the pedestrian crossing, while Duval County Public Schools continues urging drivers to slow down and follow traffic laws around campuses.

⢠Rezoning request advances for Pearl Square Block N9 commercial building (jaxdailyrecord.com) ā A major rezoning step for Pearl Square's Block N9 in Downtown Jacksonville just cleared the City Council's Land Use and Zoning Committee, moving next to the full Council. The plan would replace a warehouse with a large mixed-use building featuring 60,000 square feet of office space above 15,000 square feet of ground-floor retail, wrapping around the existing City Place condos.
