• Missing Florida diver rescued thanks to surface marker buoy (divemagazine.com) — A 45-year-old diver who went missing during a charter dive off Key Largo near John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park was safely found by the Coast Guard after using his surface marker buoy. Crews from Islamorada, Miami, and state wildlife officers joined the search before locating him about a quarter-mile away. Officials say the incident underscores how vital DSMBs and clear dive plans are in local waters. 
• Sportfish Boat Goes Ablaze at Anchorage Resort, Key Largo, Florida (poweryachtblog.com) — A sportfishing boat caught fire late on July 2 at the Anchorage Resort and Yacht Club in Key Largo, heavily damaging the unattended vessel but causing no injuries. Coast Guard, FWC, and the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office responded, and investigators currently believe the blaze was accidental. The damaged boat was later towed away and scrapped.
