On Aug. 5, Senior Resource Alliance will distribute free emergency preparedness packages to victims of Hurricane Ian, which caused widespread flooding that devastated multiple neighborhoods, including hundreds of homes at Good Samaritan Village. The nonprofit aided older adults at the retirement community following the 2022 storm.

The giveaway will run 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Church & Community Assistance Program, located at 2617 Michigan Ave. in Kissimmee. Seniors who self-attest to being impacted by Hurricane Ian can receive a storm kit containing several items, such as a water purifier, cooling fan and batteries.

The event will also provide backpacks full of school supplies to local families as they prepare for the first day of class.
