• This Florida Town Grows 90% Of The World's Caladiums And Throws A Festival About It (myfamilytravels.com) — Lake Placid’s identity as the ā€œCaladium Capital of the Worldā€ powers a three‑day July festival at Stuart Park, complete with field bus tours, 150‑plus craft vendors, live music, and a car show. Visitors can buy bulbs directly from local growers, explore the town’s famous murals, and enjoy lakeside recreation and small‑town restaurants, making it an easy weekend getaway close to home.

• Three from Okeechobee graduate SFSC as new law enforcement officers (lakeonews.com) — New law enforcement graduates from South Florida State College trained in an intensive program that included recruits sponsored by the Town of Lake Placid alongside agencies from several counties. The academy accelerated schedules to accommodate Martin County students and highlighted strong regional cooperation. Graduates are now eligible to take the state certification exam and may soon serve in local departments.
