Pedestrian Killed While Crossing U.S. 98 In Lakeland
A 27-year-old Haines City man was killed Tuesday after being struck by a car on U.S. 98 North.
LAKELAND, FL — A 27-year-old Haines City man was killed Tuesday after being struck by a car on U.S. 98 North.
Acccording to Lakeland police, at 8:44 p.m., On Tuesday, August 30, 2022, at approximately 8:44 p.m., Hector Daniel Lugo was attempting to cross the road in the 3000 block of U.S. 98 North when he was struck by a southbound 2008 Infiniti sedan.
Police said the driver, Koby Bradley Andress, 18, of Lakeland tried to swerve to avoid the impact but struck Lugo. After falling to the ground, Lugo was struck a second time by a 1997 Toyota Camry driven by Claude Saintelias, 54, of Lakeland.

Both drivers stopped and remained at the scene.
Polk County Fire Rescue and the Lakeland Fire Department begin life-saving measures on Lugo and the took him to Lakeland Regional Health where he was pronounced dead.
