Land O' Lakes Resident Killed in Northdale Crash

A 19-year-old Land O’ Lakes girl is dead following an accident on Dale Mabry Highway Thursday evening.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, David Dario Cruz, 20, of Tampa was heading southbound on Dale Mabry in a Mazda four-door car around 7:51 p.m. At the same time, a Nissan driven by a 20-year-old Land O’ Lakes man was heading northbound.

Troopers say Cruz made a left turn onto North Lakeview Drive under a green light, but his car went into the path of the Nissan. The two vehicles collided. The driver of the Nissan suffered critical injuries and was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital. The female passenger died at the scene.

The names of the victims have not yet been released.

Troopers say the accident remains under investigation and charges are pending.
