• Bishop McLaughlin to host Halloween-themed Black Flag XC Meet (lakerlutznews.com) — Bishop McLaughlin Catholic High School in Land O' Lakes will host its Halloween-themed Black Flag cross-country meet on Oct. 24, drawing about 20 schools and 200 runners. The meet doubles as Senior Morning for graduating athletes and serves as the final tune-up before Bishop hosts its first-ever district championship race on Nov. 2, bringing extra visitors and business to the area.
• Pasco BOCC Looks into Adding Third Monthly Meeting (hernandosun.com) — Pasco commissioners are considering adding a third monthly land-use meeting, possibly at the county utilities building in Land O' Lakes, which could make it easier for nearby residents to weigh in on development projects. The board also debated school resource officer funding, approved a rezoning for Kitten Trail Farms, bought land for senior housing, and funded new Moon Lake sidewalks.
• Mother abandoned 3 kids, cat in 'unlivable condition' at Pasco County home: affidavit (wfla.com) — A Land O' Lakes mother has been charged with child neglect and animal neglect after deputies say she left three children and a cat in an apartment without power, running water, or adequate food. According to an affidavit, the home was filled with trash, feces, and a strong odor, and the children had almost no contact, money, or support while she was gone.
