Business As Usual at Land O' Lakes High After Threat

A possible threat had the school community on high alert.

While there are a few more deputies hanging around the campus than normal, Land O’ Lakes High School is operating on its normal schedule.

That’s the latest word from the Pasco County School District following the discovery of a potential threat against the school posted on social media.

“Yesterday’s plan to control access to the school and suspend outdoor activities was canceled after the Pasco Sheriff’s Office identified the subject in the photo and determined that he does not pose a threat to the school,” school district spokeswoman Linda Cobbe wrote in a media release. “The law enforcement investigation continues, but LOLHS is operating under their normal schedule, with teachers teaching and students learning.”

Concern erupted Wednesday when an email containing a photograph of a teen with an airsoft gun was sent to one of the school’s secretaries. The photo contained a threat of violence to come on Friday.

The school district and sheriff’s office went to work trying to identify the teen in the photo. By Wednesday evening, it was announced the boy lives out of state, doesn’t have access to weapons and has no means of travel to Florida.
