Is Cabela's Coming to Pasco?

If the speculation holds true, the Central Pasco location would be the chain's first Florida retail outlet.

After the well-received opening of Brandon’s Bass Pro Shops, it seems the other big fish in the outdoor market is considering a location in the region.

According to the Tampa Bay Times, it appears as if Cabela’s is eyeing the site directly across the street from the soon-to-open Tampa Premium Outlets in central Pasco County.

While Cabela’s isn’t responding to questions directly, the Times points out the engineering firm that represents the outdoor retailer is meeting with Pasco County planning officials. In addition, county documents show a proposed development for the land, near Interstate 75 and State Road 56, that matches the size of a recently opened Cabela’s location in North Carolina. The chain has also announced its intention to expand into 13 new markets.

How soon the retailer might make an announcement remains unclear. So, too, does a time frame for construction should Cabela’s actually be behind the proposed 105,000-square-foot development pitched for the Cypress Creek Town Center.
