Child Protective Investigator Accused Of Falsifying Records

ODESSA, FL -- A former Pasco County Sheriff's child protective investigator has been arrested after being accused of falsifying Department of Children and Family Services records in which she said she administered drug tests to parents she never even met.

Detectives arrested Kaylynn Scott, 24, of Dade City following an investigation into a report she filed while employed as a child protective investigator for Pasco County from June 25, 2018, to May 1.

According to detectives, Scott conducted a child abuse investigation on Dec. 21, 2018, in which she claimed to have screened parents she was monitoring for drugs. She reported that the parents tested negative for all substances.

However, according to detectives, another investigator following up on the case in April tested the mother for drugs and the test came back positive. The mother admitted to the investigator that she'd been regularly using drugs and would have tested positive in December but said Scott never administered a drug screening.

When interviewed, Scott told detectives that she never visited the parents or gave them drug tests, according to the arrest affidavit.

She was arrested Thursday and taken to the Land O' Lakes Detention Center where bond was set at $5,000.
