Federal Dollars Available For Non-Profits

The Small Business Administration is looking for a non-profit to establish a women's center.

Florida non-profits can apply for a Small Business Administration grant that would go towards establishing a Women's Business Center in the state.

TheΒ SBAΒ Women's Business Center is a program thatΒ provides technical assistance to women entrepreneurs, who are largely socially and economically disadvantaged, according to a SBA press release.

The successful non-profit willΒ receive an award grant for one year andΒ four additional option years to facilitate the center. The non-profit selected must be able to provide a portion ofΒ matching funds.Β Applications are due byΒ July 31. Β 

"SBAΒ established the Women’s Business Center Program 25 years ago to better help women overcome continuing barriers to success. Today there are Women’s Business Centers in almost every state and two centers in the south Florida district," saidΒ SBAΒ South Florida District Director Francisco β€œPancho” Marrero in a press release. "This grant will create a new resource partner in Florida to help women entrepreneurs start and grow successful businesses.Β  Each center provides training in finance, management, marketing, as well as offering access to all of theΒ SBA’s financial and procurement assistance programs."
