Flood Advisories Go Up Around the Bay

Heavy rain is expected throughout the region Monday morning.

The National Weather Service is advising residents in several Tampa Bay area counties of the potential for heavy storms as the workweek kicks off. A flood advisory is in effect Monday morning.

A flood warning has been issued for Pasco County until 11:30 a.m. A flood advisory has been issued for other counties until 9:15 a.m. Those counties include Hillsborough, Pinellas, Manatee, Polk and Hernando. Radar indicates heavy rain and thunderstorms in the region. Already up to 2 inches of rain has been recorded in some parts of the Bay area Monday.

Motorists are advised to take care when navigating roadways.

“Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the roadway,” the weather service warns. “The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross safely. Move to higher ground.”

A flood watch also remains in effect until 4 p.m. Monday.

Storm chances remain strong heading into Tuesday with a 50 percent chance of scattered thunderstorms anticipated. Rain chances drop to about 30 percent on Wednesday.
