George Zimmerman Teams Up With 'Muslim-Free Zone' Gun Shop Owner

The Florida gun shop owner who shot into the national spotlight by declaring his store a “Muslim-Free Zone” earlier this summer is making headlines once more.

This time, Andy Hallinan is sharing the spotlight with another notorious Floridian – George Zimmerman.

“George Zimmerman is teaming up with Florida Gun Supply to offer signed and numbered prints of his Confederate Flag painting,” the Florida Gun Supply website states. “This painting was painted in honor of Andy Hallinan for being a true patriot and leading the country into a better, safer America. Zimmerman’s last painting sold on eBay for over $100,000.”

The print in question is available for purchase via the Florida Gun Supply website. It’s being offered for $50 credit or $48.90 cash. Those who purchase a print will be entered into a drawing for the original painting by Zimmerman. Free shipping on the print is also being offered to those who choose to buy the print before Aug. 21.

Money raised from the sale of the prints will be split between Hallinan and Zimmerman to “support their legal funds, living expenses, and advancing their mission to change the country,” the website noted. “A percentage of the proceeds will also go directly to a charity of our choosing.”

Hallinan is under legal fire after the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) filed a federal lawsuit challenging his decision to declare his store a “Muslim-Free Zone.” The complaint contends the store owner violated federal law by segregating “people on the basis of religion.”

“The people that CAIR-FL represents include Muslims that have a right to purchase guns, browse guns, take classes on gun safety, shoot guns at the range, and visit the gun range for entertainment purposes and not be discriminated against,” the complaint states.

Hallinan instituted the “Muslim-Free Zone” at his store following the shootings in Chattanooga, Tenn., that left four Marines and one sailor dead.

Zimmerman was acquitted in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin, an unarmed black teenager in 2013. He has been in and out of the news since his acquittal, most recently after being shot while in his car and for blaming President Barack Obama for racial tensions that erupted following Martin’s 2012 death. He was also implicated in a road rage incident and had domestic violence allegations levied against him that were subsequently dropped.

Federal civil rights charges in the 17-year-old’s death loomed over Zimmerman until recently. The U.S. Justice Department cited “insufficient evidence” for its February decision against pursuing further action. Zimmerman was a neighborhood watch captain in Sanford when the 2012 shooting took place. His acquittal sparked protests across the country.
