Lutz Woman Killed in State Road 54 Crash

A 38-year-old Lutz woman is dead following a two-vehicle crash on State Road 54 Sunday night.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Barbara Janet Charlebois was heading west on State Road 54 east of Ernest Drive just before 9 p.m. when the crash occurred. Charlebois, a highway patrol report said, traveled off the road for an unknown reason, overcorrected and ended up in the path of an oncoming eastbound Buick Verano driven by Bridget Mary Kent of Ontario, Canada. The Verano and Charlebois’ Toyota Camry collided.

Charlebois was pronounced dead at the scene, the report said. Kent suffered serious injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

No charges were filed.
