
Residents and visitors of St. Petersburgβs New Plaza Motel will have to find a new place to stay.
The cityβs Nuisance Abatement Board voted Wednesday to order the hotel closed for one year. Residents have seven days to move off the property, the St. Petersburg Police Department announced in an email to media.
The property at 400 34th St. N. has been involved in numerous drug and prostitution cases over the years, the departmentβs email said.

βVice and narcotics detectives documented numerous drug buys during April and May after the property had already been declared a nuisance and had been ordered to put remedial measures into place,β the email stated.
New Plaza has a total of 64 rooms and has an occupancy of about 30 percent at the moment, the police department noted.
