Only minor injuries were reported in the wreck that closed southbound lanes in Hernando County for a time.
Motorists traveling south on Interstate 75 from Hernando County into Pasco were likely late to any appointments Tuesday morning.
That’s because a tractor trailer hauling meat overturned while heading south near milepost 296.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the wreck occurred around 9:06 a.m. as driver Ricky Millwood, 56, of Gainesville failed to stay on the road and went west into the dirt shoulder. As the truck moved off the road, Millwood over-corrected. His tractor trailer traveled back onto the southbound lanes, but overturned on its passenger side in the process, the patrol reported.

The crash closed all southbound lanes of I-75 until late Tuesday morning when the Florida Department of Transportation announced that one lane had reopened. Both lanes are expected to be cleared for traffic in the late afternoon hours. It seems a barrier wall has to be replaced, FDOT reported.
As for Millwood, he suffered only minor injuries in the crash and was taken to Bayfront Health in Dade City for treatment, the highway patrol stated in a media release.

Millwood was cited for failing to maintain a lane and an over-hours violation, the patrol reported.
