State Road 54 Overpass On Town Hall Agenda
Pasco County Commissioner Kathryn Starkey is hosting a public meeting on Feb. 18.
LAND Oβ LAKES, FL β Central Pasco County residents with concerns on their minds that county government might be able to address may want to put Feb. 18 on their calendars.
Thatβs the night Commissioner Kathryn Starkey has scheduled a town hall meeting for Land Oβ Lakes and Lutz residents. The commission chairwomanβs meeting will take place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 20735 Leonard Road, in Lutz.
βThis is a great opportunity for me and county staff to hear directly from the citizens on how well their county government is doing and what we can do better,β Starkey said.

Topics up for discussion during the event include such issues as transportation, area growth, code enforcement and sidewalks, among others.
The Florida Department of Transportationβs proposals to address congestion at the State Road 54 and U.S. 41 intersection are likely to dominate much of the meeting. Current proposals include two different flyover options.

The two flyover options involve potential business relocation. One plan could impact as many as 23 businesses, a few homes and the Pasco County fire station near the intersection, the Tampa Bay Times reported. The other would impact only six businesses.
At present, FDOT is only studying the two alternatives and a no-build option. No money has been set aside for right of way acquisition or construction over the next five years, the Times noted.
The county has also established two separate task forces to look into the State Road 54/56 corridor and make recommendations to the Metropolitan Planning Organization. Those recommendations are expected to be presented to the MPO in April.
What do you think are the most pressing issues facing the Land Oβ Lakes and Lutz areas?
