Video: Tampa Bay Flooding From the Sky

A drone captured footage in Hillsborough and Pasco counties on Monday.

Wonder just how bad the recent flooding hit the Tampa Bay area?

KestrelUAS, a Wesley Chapel-based drone services company, set out to answer that question Monday. The company sent one of its drones into the sky to capture scenes from Pasco and Hillsborough counties.

The drone took to the air in the New Port Richey area around 11 a.m. and ended its flight in South Tampa at 3:30 p.m.

To help others see the extent of flooding, the company posted a video to YouTube Monday afternoon.

Record-breaking amounts of rain fell on the Tampa Bay area over the past few days. Three counties remain under a flood watch until 8 p.m. Tuesday. The forecast calls for about a 30 percent chance of rain on Wednesday. All told, an estimated 17 inches of rain fell on the Bay area since July 24, TBO reported.
