What's Up With That? - Tax Help

With tax season in full swing, I’ve had a few people ask me how they can get a little help with their returns. Fortunately, there’s a place locally residents can turn for no-cost assistance.

The United Way of Pasco County kicked off its Prosperity Campaign Feb. 3 with representatives taking appointments in the Land O’ Lakes area.

Free assistance is available for nearly anyone, regardless of income, according to Kristen King, director of community and partnership development for United Way of Pasco.

About 120 volunteers are working throughout the county to complete returns. Volunteers can handle just about any type of return except those that include farm, small business and rental income.

In Land O’ Lakes, residents can get assistance at Publix, 2121 Collier Pky. Appointments are necessary. Call 2-1-1 to set a time.

“Just say, ‘I’d like to make a tax appointment,” King said.
