LARGO, FL — Alligator trappers were called to Taylor Lake in Largo after a body was discovered with signs of a gator attack Tuesday, Largo police said.

Relatives said the 47-year-old man, whose identity has not been released, may have gone into the lake to search for Frisbees.

The 53-acre freshwater lake in John S. Taylor Park is a popular spot for anglers who fish from small boats for large-mouth bass and bluegill.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission sent out trappers to try to find the gator or gators that may have been involved in the attack on the man, said the FWC.

At this point, there is no way of knowing if one or more alligators attacked the man, nor if that was the cause of death, Largo police said.

The Pinellas County Medical Examiner will make that determination during the autopsy, they said.
