Best April Fool's Day Jokes Ever: Largo Police, Pasco Sheriff
The hands-down winner this year was the April Fool's joke played on the public by the Pasco County Sheriff's Office.
TAMPA BAY, FL -- Thanks to everyone who shared their April Fool's jokes with us this week.
We especially enjoyed the jokes from local law enforcement agencies. It's nice to know that our first-responders can maintain their sense of humor in the midst of the heartbreak and horror they see.
The hands-down winner this year was the April Fool's joke played on the public by the Pasco County Sheriff's Office, which introduced its "marine shark," Chomp the Great White Shark, on its Facebook Page.

The sheriff's office got extra points for posting the faux press conference answering imagined questions from media about Chomp including features of his vest, which was specially designed to "allow gill clearance." The sheriff's office also earned points for posting a photo of a T-shirt it planned to sell to help pay for Chomp's food and lodging.
We especially loved the comment from Giuseppe Catanzaro: "Please, stop wasting time on the marine unit and start a space unit."

Kudos to the Largo Police Department as well, which announced in a post on its Facebook Page on April 1 that the department was deploying birds of prey outfitted with video cameras to catch fugitives and find missing people.
"Always innovative, the Largo Police are exploring the use of falcons and hawks as a substitute for aerial drones," read the post. "Trained police falconers will deploy the birds of prey, carrying video cameras for surveillance at critical incidents, missing persons, and any mission where air support with a low carbon footprint would assist officers. Since birds are a normal part of the environment, they will be extremely stealthy. Much like a K9 dog, the police raptors will live with their handlers. We believe this highly sustainable program will benefit the citizens of Largo. Naturally."
Largo Police also got extra points for the altered photo of the falcon wearing the Largo Police badge.
