DUI Wolf Pack Set For Pinellas County

Agencies throughout the county are teaming up to take impaired drivers off local roads.

LARGO, FL - Motorists with plans to head out to holiday parties this weekend might want to think twice before drinking too much and getting behind the wheel.

The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office has announced plans for a countywide DUI Wolf Pack starting Saturday night and ending Sunday morning. Agencies that will join deputies in looking for impaired drivers include the Florida Highway Patrol and the Clearwater, Gulfport, Largo, Tarpon Springs and St. Petersburg Police Departments.

β€œThey will maintain a proactive profile over the weekend on the highly traveled roadways of Pinellas County,” the sheriff’s office wrote in an email to media.

This weekend’s operation is part of the county’s ongoing commitment to β€œreduce deaths, injuries, and property damage associated with traffic crashes related to impaired driving,” the agency noted. β€œThe goal of the Wolf Pack is to educate citizens and create public awareness about the dangers of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and any chemical or controlled substances.”

December also happens to be National Impaired Driving Prevention Month.
