Illegal Street Racing Possibly Linked To Serious Crash

A 27-year-old Tennessee man is in critical condition following a Monday morning crash on Ulmerton Road.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 2004 Ford F150 was heading east on Ulmerton Road, just west of Carillon Parkway, around 3:30 a.m. at a high rate of speed. The motorist, identified as Dustin M. Fowler, lost control of the truck, veered onto the median and struck a signal poll, a highway patrol report said.

Fowler suffered critical injuries during the crash.

Troopers say a second vehicle may be involved and that “illegal street racing” is suspected. Evidence at the scene supports the presence of a second vehicle.
