Indian Rocks Christian Coach Hopes Loss Fuels Team For District Play
Golden Eagles coach Adam Moravick plans to use Thursday's loss to Canterbury as a teaching tool for post season play beginning Tuesday.
Pinellas County is loaded with good high school baseball teams. It doesn't matter if it's a small school or a large school. The talent is so spread out that for a team losing to a smaller school, it's not an embarrassment.
Indian Rocks Christian baseball coach Adam Moravick has scheduled local teams, both large and small, in order to get his team ready for post season play. One such game was Thursday at Canterbury Christian.
So when Indian Rocks Golden Eagles came up short in a 10-6 loss. Moravick used it as a teaching example of what his team needs to do - and quickly- in order to make any sort of dent in a playoff run.

Indian Rocks Christian plays Brooks-Debartalo Tuesday in the first game of the Class 2A-10 District at Tampa Prep.
"We have to come prepared and play hard every game," Moravick said.

The Indian Rocks Christian's coach didn't feel his entire team did that Thursday. Trailing 4-2 in the top of the fourth, Ryan Tona doubled and was followed by J.L. Monson who belted a two-run homer to tie the game at 4-4.
But it didn't stay tied for long. Canterbury scored six runs combined in the fifth and sixth innings to take control of the game, which didn't sit well with Moravick.
"They came out and swung the bats well," Moravick said. "We have some guys that gave the effort. We just need to be more focused."
If there is such a thing as a good loss, this may be it for Indian Rocks Christian. The loss to Canterbury is the team's final regular season game. Moravick hopes the sting of the loss and why the game got away from the Golden Eagles will be fresh in his team's memory when district play begins Tuesday.
That was Moravick's hope as he had a lengthy postgame talk with his team.
"This will get us ready for next week," Moravick said.
