Largo Woman Seriously Injured in Bus Crash

No one on the school bus was injured.

A 28-year-old Largo woman suffered serious injuries Friday morning after her car collided with a Pinellas County School bus.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Erica Ficca was heading westbound on Ulmterton Road around 6 a.m. when the school bus in front of her Dodge Dart stopped for a railroad crossing. Ficca, the patrol said, failed to stop and struck the rear of the bus.

Ficca was taken to Bayfront Medical Center with serious injuries.

The bus driver, Sidney Odums, 65, of Clearwater and two teenagers on board were not injured.

Ficca was ticketed for careless driving and failure to wear a seat belt, the highway patrol report noted.

The crash blocked traffic along Ulmerton Road near Lake Avenue for several hours Friday.
