• Pinellas schools revise Planning for Progress proposals (baynews9.com) — Pinellas County Schools, based in Largo, is revising its Planning for Progress proposals after strong feedback from families, including a new plan to create two K-8 schools in Tarpon Springs and to delay any decision on closing Sexton Elementary. With more closures still likely, the School Board will vote Oct. 13 on which schools move forward for closure, while zoning changes will be handled later.

• Pinellas Trail Safety Meeting October 2026 (centralfloridalifestyle.com) — A public Pinellas Trail Safety Task Force meeting is set for October 13 at Pinellas County Safety & Emergency Services on Ulmerton Road in Largo, and you're invited to listen or speak up. Officials and law enforcement will review safety issues on the popular trail, and accommodations are available for residents with disabilities who request them in advance.

• State charges 10 for poaching fish, shrimp, turtles (palatkadailynews.com) — State officials say they've broken up an alleged poaching ring accused of illegally selling fish, shrimp, and protected sea turtles along Florida's Gulf Coast, and one of the ten people charged lives in Largo. The case, built over several years, claims the group sold more than $150,000 in seafood while skirting catch limits and reporting rules.
