WESLEY CHAPEL, FL — Two teens driving a stolen car with stolen firearms inside were tracked through a marsh and apprehended by a feisty Pasco Sheriff's Office K9 named Brasko.

The teens are facing multiple charges following a car crash in Wesley Chapel earlier this week.

According to the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office, on Sept. 15 K9 Cpl. Adam Tellier was driving on State Road 54 in Wesley Chapel near Saddlebrook when he noticed a stolen vehicle driving eastbound on State Road 54 with no lights on.

Tellier attempted to stop the vehicle but the 17-year-old driver refused to pull over, turning onto Smith Road near the entrance to Ashley Pines and then going off-road into a marshy area where the driver and his 16-year-old passenger fled on foot.

Tellier and K9 Brasko chased down the two teens and took them into custody.

The sheriff's office found two stolen firearms in the vehicle.

The teens face charges of vehicle theft, fleeing to elude, resisting without violence and carrying a concealed firearm.

Born in Germany on Nov. 6, 2013, K9 Brasko completed patrol school and narcotics school, and has attended several narcotics certifications and seminars. In 2015 and 2017, Brasko was awarded first place among more than 100 dogs from all over the United States in narcotics detection.

"Juvenile crime continues to be a significant issue in our community, as further evidenced by this incident," said Pasco County Sheriff Chris Nocco. "It is critical to note that two stolen firearms were also located in the stolen vehicle the juveniles were driving."

In light of the homicide of a mother who was shot through the window of her home on Irene Loopin New Port Richey while laying in bed, Nocco urges residents to secure their firearms and vehicles to help prevent these crimes, especially among juveniles.
